The Federal Executive Council has approved the 2022National Social Investment Program (Establishment) Bill.
The Council which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari resolved that the program should be backed by legislation to ensure its continuity and sustainability.
The bill seeks to establish the National Social Investment Program Agency for the management and implementation of the National Social Investment program. If enacted, it will provide the necessary statutory backing for the existing program under the FMHADMSD.
In her presentation to the Council, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq described the program as a reliable tool for solving poverty problems in Nigeria.
