…Assures of more infrastructural development in Ota Aworiland
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has told the people of Ota and Aworiland to continue to reflect on the values of unity and progress that their ancestors stood for with a view to building a greater Ado Odo Ota, Aworiland and Ogun State in general.
Just as he assured them development of more infrastructural development in Ado Odo Ota being a major industrial clusters that has contributed significantly not only in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) but also in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state.
The governor who stated this in his address at the 2024 Iganmode day cultural festival celebration held at the Nawarudeen High school sport Pavilion, Ota, said the cultural festival was a celebration of identity, history and resilience of Awori people whose industriouness and dedication have made Ota a cornerstone of Ogun State growth and development.
Governor Abiodun who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who was the chief host, said the significant of Ota to Ogun State cannot be over stated, noting that the presence of leading industries and fueling businesses in Ota has made the state the industrial capital of Nigeria.
He added that his administration understands that the prosperity of Ota was directly linked to the prosperity of the state, saying that was why his government remains committed for not only addressing infrastructural challenges but also creating an enabling environment for businesses and individuals to thrive.
“Our contributions have not only boosts the economy but also elevated the state reputation on both national and global stages. In addition to our economy contributions, we the people of Ota and Ado Odo Ota Local government have been steadfast partners in the democratic journey of this government . Our support in the last election played a crucial role in the victory of All Progressive Congress.
‘This partnership has provided a foundation for our administration to continuing delivering good governance and we are deeply grateful for the trust and confidence of the people of Ota” he said
While saying that the construction of critical roads in Ado Odo Ota remains a top priority in his administration, he informed that major Ota Abeokuta road, a vital corridor for trades and commercial has suffered for many years of regret but his administration has started work on the road, as well as still engaging actively with the Federal government and other States to ensure it complete rehabilitation.
According to him, similarly, significant progress has been made in Atan, lusada, Agbara road by making lives, industries and communities meaningful. We are committed to delivering these projects to improve connectivity and other activities to alleviate the standard of living for the people of Ota.
He however congratulated Olota of Ota, sons and daughters of Ota and Aworis for another successful Iganmode day.
Also speaking, member House of Representatives, representing Ado Odo Ota Federal constituency, Engr. (Chief) Tunji Akinosi, congratulated all sons and daughters of Ota Aworiland on the occasion of Iganmode day, appreciating Olota of Ota for his unrelenting efforts in uniting all Awori Obas towards the development of the land, while also calling on all Awori Obas to be more United, shun any form of leadership tussle so as to be able to recover lost entities as well as witness more developmental strides in Aworiland.
The Olota of Ota, HRM, Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Obalanlege in his remarks, said over the years, the festival has not only amplified cultural consciousness, but has also driven infrastructural development, human capacity building and economic growth in Otta, calling on the citizens of Ota and the Aworis to commit themselves to fostering peace, unity and progress.
In his welcome address, the Chairman Ado Odo Ota Local government, Hon. Adewale Wasiu lawal, said the annual iganmode day was not only aimed at uniting the sons and daughters of Ota Aworiland, but also to promote its rich cultural heritage, urging citizens to continue to contribute meaningfully towards the development of Ota Aworiland as well as promote unity, peace and love amongst each other.
Meanwhile, the Olota of Ota, HRM Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir. Obalanlege earlier installed Hon. Tunji Akinosi, member house of Representatives, Ado Odo Ota Federal constituency, as the Aare Bobagunte of Ota kingdom, Chief (Engr.) Mufutau Olakunle Salako as the fourth Bashorun of Ota and Chief (Mrs) Adebola Taiwo Adekunle as Erelu Obatunwase of Ota kingdom at his palace, as part of activities to mark the 2024 Iganmode day cultural festival.
Highlight of the event was cultural display, family and group homage to the Olota of Ota as well as several musical interlude.
